MOUTUSHI

When I saw Moutushi’s works for the first time, I had to have one. I did exactly that.

 Moutushi had this to say about her work -

"Fables or story-telling, for me, is a liberating mode of image-making which allows me to bring together the real and the fantastical in an attempt to confront and contradict reality.

In my world neither man nor animal gains supremacy in their constant battle with each other. Amid the chaos of crude reality I try to pave a path of solace with the stories that I perceive through my objects of terror and desire."

BIODATA

 

Primarily a printmaker, I had pursued my education in Graphic Arts at Kalabhavan, Santiniketan and the Faculty of Fine Arts M.S. University, Baroda. In 2001 I was conferred the Charles Wallace Award for Visual Arts and the Commonwealth Fellowship for Arts & Crafts, which allowed me to do an MA in Advanced Printmaking. However painting remains my much favored mode and I continue working with acrylics on paper and canvas. In 2002 I had a solo show in London, apart from participating in several national and international exhibitions since the past twelve years.
